Not Poetry: A poem by Summer Qabazard

By Summer Qabazard

Not Poetry

That’s not poetry

That’s
words

It’s
attention-seeking behavior

It’s
dumb

You’re
dumb

It’s
unbecoming of a young lady

It’s
day one at the asylum

That’s not poetry

That’s
gross

It’s
whining

It’s
raving in a loin cloth

It’s
whatever

That’s not poetry

That’s
my ass

That’s
mindless self-indulgence

It’s
smoking
too much
pot

That’s not poetry

That’s
how it

really

was
