The poetry of Adam Gibbs

The World to Come.

She’s enabled me to travel in time,
To project myself into a future where
She looks to us for explanations,
For answers to The Big Questions
About life, death, and the connective
Tissue of love stretching between them,
Answers I ponder here in the fragile present
Where you lie sleeping next to me,
Where I imagine her voice
In the slow cadence of your breathing,
An echo of the world to come,
A world where,
On my heart’s lower frequencies,
I can already hear her sing.
