The poetry of Christine Jane Dubbeldam

Dear Caterpillars — A Slam Poem

Yeah I’ve changed,
From being a caterpillar into a butterfly.
I am the happiest I’ve ever been,
without your help.

One day I decided,
I want to do more than just exist,
I want to live, I confided.
Slow progress is still progress,
I thought.

How beautiful was my moon,
dancing with the stars?
I asked him.
How beautiful was my moon? I asked.

One day I decided,
I want to do more than just exist,
I want to live, live excited.
I will spread these wings,
I’ll fly.

Good things are coming if you wait.
I pray this feeling does not fade away.
Break through your cocoon,
Go, fly, have your big break.
