People highly encourage oven baked foods due to its ability to lessen the fats from the food. It’s a healthier way of cooking than deep frying or using oil when sautéing. It makes the food crunchier and tender on the inside.

One of our favorite breakfast classics, Sausages, can be actually cooked in the oven. If it’s your first time to do it, here’s how you can cook sausages in the oven the right way:

Cooking Sausages in the Oven

Step 1 Preheat the Oven

You need to preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for at least 15 minutes. It’s best to preheat the oven so the temperature inside shall be ready to cook the sausages evenly.

Step 2 Prepare the sausages

If the sausage you have is currently frozen, you need to defrost it the night before inside the fridge so it would be ready the next morning for breakfast. We highly you discourage to put frozen uncooked meats in the oven since it changes the quality and taste of the meat.

You can pick any type or flavor of sausage you like. You can choose from sweet, savory, smoky to spicy ones. It doesn’t matter what type of sausage.

Step 3 Line or grease your baking pan

Prepare the baking pan and line it with parchment paper. If you have a cooking spray, you can use this instead to grease the pan. It’s best to put a parchment paper or cooking spray so the sausages won’t stick to the baking pan while it’s cooking. The sausages wouldn’t look presentable if the skins of the meat had been ripped off because it was stuck on the baking pan.

Step 4 Arrange the sausages to the pan

There’s no rule on how to arrange the sausages whether you have it horizontal or vertical. Just make sure you don’t overpopulate your baking pan with sausages. Overpopulating it can result in undercooking the sausage. Maintain enough spacing for each sausage so all of them will cook evenly.

Step 5 Place the sausages in the open and bake

Bake the sausages in the oven for about 30 minutes or until the sausage has turned brown and starts caramelizing. Although it’s okay to not flip the sausages, I highly recommend flipping the sausages halfway so the other side can get crispy and browned as well.

Step 6 Serve while hot and enjoy!

After taking the sausages out from the oven, give it a 3 minute rest so it won’t be too hot to eat. Serve it with a sandwich, a good variety of condiments and a hot cup of coffee or chocolate milk.

Important Reminders:

  • When using the oven, make sure you set a time alarm so you won’t forget when to take out the sausages. Overcooking it will burn the sausages and there’s nothing that can undo it.
  • Before taking out the sausage, double check if it’s really cooked. Measure if its internal temperature is 75 degrees Celsius. If it is, then it’s good to go.
