Why is vegan pronounced vegan?
If 2 vowels are separated by only one consonant, the first vowel is long. I am well aware that there are many exceptions to this rule but The word in question is vegan which adheres to the rule exactly. It’s pronounced “VEE-gan” (with a hard ‘g’).

Veganism is currently defined by the Vegan Society as a way of living that attempts to exclude all forms of animal exploitation and cruelty as much as possible. This includes exploitation for food and any other purpose.
How is Vegenaise pronounced?
We named it Vegenaise (pronounced “VEDGE-en-aise) for “vegetarian mayonnaise”. But today, with so many vegans enjoying our product, we really think that Veganaise (pronounced “VEE-gan-aise) is a great name too. So, call it whatever you like!
